# 2008: The request rate limit was reached

> The request rate limit was reached.

`2008` means: The request rate limit was reached.

| HTTP status | What to do                                              |
| ----------- | ------------------------------------------------------- |
| 429         | Wait for Retry-After or error.retry\_after, then retry. |

## Error response

Relay includes this code in `error.code`. The response also includes `error.status`, `error.message`, and `error.doc_url`; keep `trace_id` when it is present.
